Just don't tell em that you know me...
I remember seeing the boys here in the 80's and it was an interesting scene with Deadheads descending on the
Hartford business district. Ever once in awhile getting a knowing smile from somebody in a suit and tie.
If comparing it to the rest of this fabled Month of shows it is like 4 out 5 but that is with the seriously stiff competition of May 1977 still i prefer this to that stop and go Boston 77 show with all the hammering.
Garcia does extend in some interesting places like Sugaree and Tenn Jed.

Last of tour
The final show of the most-regarded tour is a hot, consistently above-average show with the requisite Spring '77 highlights - even if not one of the tours Top Ten shows! Not as constantly heated as, say, 5/21, 5/22 or 5/8 but still above-average with Garcia approaching differently than those dates.
1st Set: B 2nd Set: B
Overall = 4 Stars
Bertha - strong opener suggests strong show
Sugaree - you may think it's peaked, but wait. A Top 10 of all time
Minglewood Blues - so many good ones on this tour, but this is still a top 5
Samson & Delilah - Donna's great, everybody's tight
Tennessee Jed - Jer is having an angular night and this version is loopy, close to jumping the rails until it scoops the corner
Estimated Prophet - Donna on an on-night; edge of seat again
One More Saturday Night - Jer still approaching from angles

Best sounding source
Of this beautiful Betty Board. It really shines, shines here. The other versions are a bit muffled.

Latvala was right!
Dick was not impressed with this show, and it's nothing more than an average performance for May 1977. Other tnen what might be one of the all-time best versions of Sugaree, there is nothing distinguishing this show from any other from this period. Certainly there are numerous May '77 shows more worthy of official release. (92 pts)

In the groove
This is another one of them. I like the sounds that I've heard from "Bertha" very much. If you haven't already checked out this entire month, please do. This is a strong show, in my opinion. 4.5 Easy.

Soon to be released on a 3 disc set
Excellent show but very typical of the 1977 spring pinnacle. IDK about worthy of release but this sbd is sure to come downs sooner than later.

Plenty of Pyrotechnics,
Jerry pickin' and grinnin' on his Travis Beam TB500 w/Unity Gain Buffer built by John Cutler.
Fine recording and remaster. Typically great Grateful Dead of 1977.
